AUGUST NEWSLETTER???? (a long read, but there are a few things that will make the read worth it!)
I think this may be a first for everyone in the club, but here is our August newsletter!
It has been an odd summer for sure, and it seems like the hot days are behind us.  That can mean only one thing, it's time to get ready to ride!
For most of us, that means waiting until about half way through December to get our sleds registered and ready, and I am here to tell you that is not a good idea!  The time is NOW to renew your memberships, do your preseason work on your sleds, get them registered, and get them insured.  This way, when the snow flies, you will be ready!
Like last year, we will be having earlybird specials for joining the club before the snow flies.  Our September drawing will be for a DRAG Hoodie, Beanie, and choice of one of our remaining DRAG T shirts.  We will have drawings in October and November, but they will not be as good!  In addition, one lucky snowmobile club member that joins before September 30th will be awarded $500 from NYSSA!  There is no time better to renew than now if you haven't!

We have a few new things to let everyone know about as we get into the snowmobile season.

This year, in addition to the NYSSA tickets we sell, we will be holding gear raffles over Facebook to help us raise funds for trail grooming and our new equipment.

Here is how they will work:

We will post an item. It will be something like a helmet of your choice, a nice set of goretex gloves, a set of goggles, some travel gear for your sled, an accessory or to, maybe even a GoPro... the list is really endless. At first, we will keep it to items in the $100-$300 range.

We will then say how many openings there are to get in on it. For instance, we could post a set of gloves with 15 openings that cost $10 apiece. You on Facebook, will comment in the post as to which number in the list you want. In this example, it would be a number between 1 and 15. It will be first comment, first served to the number.

Once the numbers are all filled, the raffle will close, and then the confirmed people of that list will send their donations in via Paypal. In your Paypal payment, you will have to specify the raffle # you are in as well as the number you were awarded in the list.

After all donations are made for the item, we will go Facebook live, and select the winner with a random number generator! In our example above, you would have a 1 in 15 shot at a nice pair of gloves for a $10 donation!

This should be fun, and as we get more interest in these raffles, we will post more and more interesting items!

With that said, please send us your questions and ideas that you would like to see posted!

Our first raffle just posted for an Antigravity Batteries Micro Start XP-1 PPS.  There are 25 openings for $12 apiece.

Our Board of Directors just finished up a meeting last weekend which started the selection process for our new grooming equipment!  What does that mean for all of our club members?  SAFER AND BETTER TRAILS!  We are planning on purchasing one smaller goomer (Yamaha Viking with tracks) for the tighter trails, early season maintenance, and off season work.  This will essentially replace our old Skandics and then some.  We are also putting the finishing touches on selecting our next large groomer (similar to the PB-100 we picked up 2 years ago).  We hope to have that selected very soon.  More to come on our equipment status when it gets finalized!

The ability for us to purchase these 2 groomers and associated drags comes from your membership dues as well as your donations throughout the year!  We can't thank you all enough for the support you have given us.

At the end of last season, we had one guided tour.  It was a small group that toured the area and had a good time.  The weather did not cooperate most of the season, but this year we plan to do the same.  We would like to make a couple of pit stops and make a day of it.  More to come on this.

At our last meeting, a member brought up the idea of a vintage snowmobile gathering down in the village at the Pavillion.  We will be looking for volunteers to help us out with this.  If you are interested or know anyone who is, please let us know!

Big Mike is always looking for help.  Saturday, September 16th will be the first official trail work day.  He will be posting details on our Facebook page.  If you are interested, please contact us via email.

Our first general membership meeting will be Saturday, September 16th at Zeisser's in Speculator.  It will be held at 7pm.  All are welcome, and we hope to see you there!

If you have any ideas or want to participate in the club more than just being a paying member, please let us know!

That's all for now! See you soon!
